Calling all in Jazz Band – and information about a change of rehearsal day for this week only…….
Jazz Band will rehearse on Thursday 29 November at 12.30 pm in room 126. This is instead of Monday 26 November. Please can you all attend as we are nearing the Christmas Concert.

S5/6 – What you have to do…….
Mr Birse is out of school this morning, Friday 16 November. So during periods 3 and 4, we will not be doing Listening activities this week. However, everyone should be working on some aspect of your music course. Either composing, technology or performing. Advanced Higher pupils could be working on their Listening Commentaries; some individual revision of concepts on Learn Listening Online.
Of course, use different rooms (Practice room 1, Mrs Paton’s and 126 are all available). However, please be mindful and respectful of others particularly in terms of volume.

What you have to do Period 5 today (16 November 2012)
Mr Birse is likely to be out of school.
They are doing a number of things you could be working on during music.
1. Performing – with your partner. Work on the piece that you started last week. You are working towards making a recording of your performance. Claire and Rachael’s music is on my desk – both Claire’s A3 original and Rachael’s transposed copy.
2. Your Blog Website – if anyone has still to make their “About Me” page, you can do that on a Macbook. Ask Duncan Ritchie to help if you get stuck. He knows the problem re the text disappearing after its published. So publish only once at the end when your page is finished. “About Me” has to contain information about Music, Music Theatre, Dancing, etc in Primary, Secondary, Extra-Curricular and out-of-school. Also, are you intending to follow Music Performing or Music Technology for the rest of the music course.
3. Work on a solo piece as given by their instrumental teacher.
All pupils should be working…. other rooms are available – Practice room 1, Mrs Paton’s and 126 but only 1 group is allowed in each of the rooms. All other pupils have to stay in 125. Please work in a way that is respectful and mindful of others!

Unfortunately, due to the S3 Parents’ Evening, there will be NO ORCHESTRA rehearsal on Wednesday 14 November. However, orchestra will restart on Wednesday 21 November. A full attendance of is expected from then until the Christmas Concert. Whilst acknowledging that there are S4 prelims, it is very important that everyone attends the rehearsals from now till the Concerts. There are only 4 weeks left till the Concert evenings.

Tickets for Music for Christmas are now on sale in the School Office. The concerts are on the evenings of Tuesday 18 December and Wednesday 19 December, starting at 7.30 pm in the Assembly Hall (Old Building). All Music Department musical ensembles and choirs perform at the concert – and it is a 2-night commitment, so you must be there both nights.
Participants wear school uniform (white collared shirt, black trousers/ skirt, black shoes) and a Red Band Tie and/or a Green Choir tie. Ties are available from Mr Birse.
Tickets cost £5.00 Adults and £3.00 Concession.
Well, here we are, at the end of the second week back after the October holidays. A lot has been happening in the last few days but the Blog is back in action – most pages will be updated in the next few hours with new links added.
